Visitation is from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, October 11 at Dunn's Funeral Home on Grand Ave. Services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Dunn's, with burial at Glendale Cemetery. Franklin was born in Kendrick, ID, on October 14, 1914. He was the son of William L. and Minnie Florence (Hillix) Huyette of Clarkston, WA. An early pioneer in the field of amateur radio in the Lewiston- Clarkston area, Frank built his first ham radio at age 16 with call letters W7ALZ, then later in Bettendorf, IA, as W¯DST. He was Employment Manager for the ALCOA Davenport Works for 29 years and served as Director of the Bettendorf Chamber of Commerce and Chairman of the Scott County Selective Service Board. Upon retirement Frank and Kitty moved to Boise, ID, where they resided for 21 years. In 1996 they moved back to Iowa. Franklin was preceded in death by a brother, William Hauley Huyette of Pomeroy, WA. He is survived by his wife, Catherine (Kitty) Huyette of Wesley Acres; six children, Gregory F. Huyette and wife Deb of Agoura Hills, CA, David W. Huyette and wife Summer of Geneva, Switzerland, Steven R. Huyette and wife Barb of Des Moines, Marcia F. Huyette and daughter Genevieve of Cape Cod, MA, Michael J. Huyette and wife Kelly of Salt Lake City, UT, and Lori C. Huyette of Denver, CO; and nine grandchildren. He was born in Riverton, Wyo., and was a plumber. He served in the Navy and was a member of American Legion La Mesa Post 282. Survivors include his wife, Kathleen Hillix; sons, Larry Hillix Jr., Mike Hillix and Dennis Hillix, all of El Centro, and Rolland Richardson of Santee; sisters, Barbara Morales and Judy Williams of New Mexico and Patricia Staton of Indiana; brothers, Joe Hillix of Oklahoma and William Hillix of Missouri; and six grandchildren.
