Monteville BOWLING, born on 28 Aug 1874 at Pike Co, KY; died on 17 Jun 1946;buried at Bowling Fork, Pike Co, KY.
The family Bible lists his name as Mont. However, some family members say his name was Monteville. "MY RATLIFF FAMILY" shows his name as Montreville. He was generally called Mont, but some in the family called him Montevideo. One source, "Pike County Historical Papers No. 6" shows his name was William Monteville Bowling. He was a lawyer, judge, and county court clerk in Pike Co KY. Cassandra Faulkner also reports that he was tax assessor and sheriff.
As a lawyer, he had an office in Hellier but spent much of his time in Pikeville. He kept some pet dogs in his law office and was called "Dog Mont" because of it. However, most folks just called him "Lawyer Mont." According to "Historical Papers" he was married 3 times: "He married (1) H. V. Jenkins ( aka Jenny Overstreet, sister to Cordelia, who married Reece Bowling)
10 Nov 1897 with W.E. Flanary as surety on his bond. He married (2) Virgie Blankenship 18 Dec 1905 and (3) Nerva Adams."
Mont had no children.

He married (3) Minerva (Nerva/Nervie) (____)."Pike County Historical Papers No.6" states her name as Nerva Adams. Cassandra Faulkner states her name as Minerva Thompson. Mont's gravestone is inscribed,"Husband of Nervie".
