Johann Heinrich Londt received a commendation and medal for service in the Hessian military. The citation says (translated from German to English):
CHARTER OF GRANT (OR BESTOWAL)
In order to commemorate the enduring merits of the
faithful soldiers who joined the ranks in time of war
against seditious and revolutionary rebels in the Grand
-Duchy Baden, by the order of the Grand - Duke and in
accordance with the provisions of August 29, 1949, a
commemorative medal herewith is instituded.

The present charter of grant is issued to

Heinrich Londt

the Grenadier of the Third Company of the 1"/" Infantry
Regiment of the Great - Hessian military forces as a
commemorative medal is bestowed to him as a token
of recognition for the irreproachable stand in the field
with an army against the mutineers of the Grand - Duchy
of Baden.

Londt, Henry, a resident of Jefferson Tp., Whitley Co., Ind. met death while walling in a stone well for Samuel Aultom. He was assisted by his brother, George Londt and because of the damps they had frequently changed places. He had called to be helped out of the well but fell back just at the top. His brother John Londt fell back into the well while attempting a rescue but was rescued. The body was not recovered until an hour had passed. He left a young wife.
