The Hilgart, Wudi, Kundinger and Schmidt families departed their homeland of Eisenstein of Bohemia in the early 1880s to settle in northern Price County of Wisconsin. They did so to escape the servitude existence under the political and economic rule of the land barons and to endeavor to achieve a more independent and better way of life for their families and descendants. After reaching their new homeland, they named it "Eisenstein", and in doing so, they retained their collective name of "The Eisensteiners. It is to these hardy and brave pioneers that this family history site is dedicated and, in their memory, given the name “The Eisensteiners.”
The purpose of this family history site is to generate interest and provide guidance toward the development of the Eisensteiner Family Histories which will record, provide, and preserve the historical and familial history of twenty-one of these Eisensteiner families. Participation by all the descendants of these families is encouraged. Its development will be determined largely by the extent of the interest and participation it generates. All who have a related story to tell, a treasured photograph to insert or other information which might aid in achieving the objectives of this family history project will be appreciated. Certainly it is the hope that all who stake a claim as an Eisensteiner will take the journey through their family histories and support the idea and objectives of this site by contributing their own personal family data and information toward its development.
This undertaking is a group project. Credit for its completion goes to all who contribute. I serve only as primary coordinator and as the host of this site. Information and data for inclusion in this family history site should be sent by email or postal to myself. My address is shown above.
