Lona Kirkpatrick Greene, 83, of 127 Hilltop Drive, died Sunday, Aug 27, 1995, at her residence. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County and the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Amanda Rector Kirkpatrick. She was retired from the Haywood County School system. She was preceded in death by a son, Clifford Greene. She was a member of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Hooper Greene; two daughters, Vivian Kelley of Waynesville, and Louise Nanney of Morristown, Tenn; one sister, Sue Reece of Waynesville; one brother, Jim Kirkpatrick of Fines Creek; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home, Waynesville. The Revs Mike Cobb and WO Henson will officiate. Burial will be in Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Phil and Ed Kelley, Lawrence Davis, David Smith, Troy Justice and Doug Edwards. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Ratcliffe Cove Baptist Church, 1045 Ratcliffe Cove Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.

Sue Kirkpatrick Reece, 78, formerly of 128 Maple St, Waynesville, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, at the Brian Center. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph N. and Amanda Rector Kirkpatrick. She retired from food services with Haywood County Schools. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Jack Oliphant, Frances Reece and Julius Ledford. Surviving are one son, Joel Keith Reece of San Antonio, Texas, and one brother, Jim Kirkpatrick of Clyde. Burial was in Greenhill Cemetery, Waynesville.

Luke Alvin Swanger, 48, of Rt 3 Clyde, a veteran of WW II and an employee of the State Highway Commission died at his home Monday (1/8/68). Dr R Stuart Roberson, Haywood County Coroner, ruled death was due to a self inflicted gunshot wound. Surviving are the widow Mrs Edna Greene Swanger, 3 sons Randall, Darryl and Michael Swanger; 2 daughters Bonita and Sheila Swanger all of the home; 5 brothers Carson of Hampton, Va, Mark of Brevard, Coleman of Waynesville, Varnell of Keansburg, NJ and ST of Clyde Rt 3; 2 sisters Mrs Zeb Clark and Mrs Troy Sutton. Services were conducted at 2 PM (1/10/68) at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church.
