Leona Justice Clark, 78, of Rt 1 Clyde died at 2PM Friday in a Waynesville nursing home follwing an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Haywood County. She was the widow of Silas E Clark and a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She is survived by 3 daughters Mrs CH Sanford and Mrs Robert Johnson of Enka and Mrs Verlin Dills of Brevard; 5 sons Ray, Joseph and Manson of Rt 1 Clyde, Paul of Waynesville and Homer of Candler; sister Mrs Ellen Roberts of Marion; 2 brothers CB and Edgar Justice of Spring Creek. Burial was in Upper Crabtree Cemetery.

Waynesville Newspaper, May 21, 1953: Son and Father Die Within Few Hours.
Troy Steve Clark, 37, of Newport News, Va, and his father, Silas Eldridge Clark, 63, of Rt 1, Clyde died within a 12 hour period yesterday. The son, a native of Haywood County died suddenly yesterday afternoon in Newport News. He was employed at the Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Company and had resided in Newport News for 12 years. The father died at his home Wednesday at midnight after a lingering illness. He was a farmer, a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and a native and lifelong resident of the county. Double funeral services will be held at Rock Springs Baptist Church upon arrival of the son's body. The younger Clark is survived by his widow, Mrs Lona Justice Clark, 3 sisters Mrs CH Sanford, Mrs Robert Johnson of Enka, Mrs Verlin Dills of Brevard, 5 brothers Roy, Joseph, Manson, and Paul of Rt 1, Clyde and Homer of Enka. The father is survived by his wife, sons and daughters, 1 sister Mrs JD West of Rt 1, Clyde.

ESSIE RAY JUSTICE:
Jessie Ray Justice, 95, died Saturday, Nov 25, in a local care center. A native of Madison County, NC, he was the son of the late John and Emma Surrett Justice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Kirkpatrick Justice, who died in 1983; and his three sons, Clyde, McClain and Edward Justice. He was a farmer and a member of Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are five sons, David Justice of Waynesville, J.R. Justice of Clyde, James Justice of Osburn, Idaho, Candler Justice of Sarasota, Florida, and Bill Justice of Lake Junaluska; two daughters, Faye Rogers of Lake Junaluska and Kathleen Hipps of Waynesville; three brothers, Albert Justice of Sandy Mush, Raymond Justice of Doggett Mountain, and Wilburn Justice of Arden; four sisters, Minnie Lusk and Ethel Huthinson of Sandy Mush, Gladys Surrett and Eula Suttles of Old Fort; 25 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. Services will be held 11 AM Tuesday at Fines Creek Memorial Baptist Church where the body will be placed 30 minutes before the service. The Rev Jimmy Moore and John Allen will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Woodrow Marshall Plemmons, 80, of 102 Rocky Lane Road, Clyde, died Friday, April 9, 199, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. A native of Madison County, he was the son of the late Joseph M. and Martha Justice Plemmons. He was a farmer and retired from WNC Farmers Market in Asheville. He was a veteran of WW II serving in the US Army and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Junaluska. Surviving are his wife, Edith Ferguson Plemmons; two daughter, Marianna Turner of Roanoke Virginia and Doris Warren of Clyde; one sister, Faye Gunter of Asheville; one brother, Yates Plemmons of Waynesville; one half-sister, Bertha Webb of Waynesville; three grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Burial was in Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
