Delayed birth certificate on file in Haywood County Register of Deeds states birthdate as May 27, 1894.

Robert M Clark died Saturday, May 7, 1966, in the Haywood County Hospital. He retired from Champion after 34 years. He is survived by his widow Faye Taylor Clark, son Paul W Clark of West Sommerville, Mass, daughter Mrs Virgil Brown of Canton. Burial was in Crawford Memorial Gardens.

ETTIE MAE CLARK:
Last rites were held on Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Piney Grove Baptist Church in the Fines Creek section for Mrs. Lettie Allen, wife of Taylor Allen, who died at Haywood County Hospital on Monday morning at 4 o'clock. Burial was in the Piney Grove Cemetery. Mrs Allen was born on February 16, 1895 at Hazelwood the daughter of Melvin and Nan Davis Clark. She is survived by the husband, sons Avery, Allen, Reeves, Emory and Franklin Allen, daughter Tilda Allen all of Fines Creek, sister Martha Rathbone of Morganton, one half sister, Zettie Rogers of White Pine, Tenn, brothers, Robert Clark of Canton, Raymond of Greensboro, Harley of Waynesville, half brothers Clarence and Grady Messer of Greenville, SC.

Robert Taylor Allen, 67, of Rt 3 Clyde died in a local hospital Wednesday afternoon after a long illness. He was a son of the late Robert Allen. He is survived by the widow Mrs Elva Massey Allen; 8 sons Avery of Hot Springs, Reeves of Waynesville, Emery of Hampton,Va, Melvin of Waynesville, Franklin of Miami, Fl, Raymond, Roger and John of the home; 5 daughters Mrs Fred Brown of Waynesville, Misses Lucille, Lorena, Debra and Elaine of the home; one siste Mattie Clark.

Services were held at Crabtree Baptist Church Saturday for Harley Clark, 44, who died at his home on Welch Street at 1:45 PM Friday. Burial was in the church cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Nora Messer Clark, 4 daughters Mrs Gilmer Setzer, Mrs Bill Frady, and Miss Hilda Clark of Waynesville, Mrs Fletcher Brown of Fines Creek; one son James Clark at home, 2 brothers Raymond of Greensboro and Bob of Canton; 2 1/2 Brothers Clarence and Grady Messer of Greenville, SC; one sister Mrs Charles Rogers of White Pine, TN; 5 step-sisters.

UFUS GARRETT HILL:
Rufus Garrett Hill, 79, of Route 1, Waynesville, died Saturday in a Haywood County Hospital. Born in Haywood County to the late William and Mary Clark Hill, he was retired from Royal Pilkerton Company and was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Edna Caldwell Hill; two sons, Keith D. Hill of Belmont, NC, and Jack Denton Hill of Waynesville; a daughter, Mrs Ned Mills of Sylva, NC; two brothers, Claude Hill of Waynesville and Tom Hill of Washaugual, Washington; two sisters, Decie Smathers and Agnes Burgess of Waynesville; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 3PM Tuesday in the chapel of Crawford Funeral Home, Waynesville. The Rev Julien Crowe, the Rev Frank Reed and the Rev OP Ledford will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Jimmy Vickery, Arthur Corbin, William McMahan, Bonner Rabb, Alonzo Dills and Frank Crawford. The family will receive friends an hour before the services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Haywood County Rescue Squad.

Edna Caldwell Hill, 90, died Tuesday, January 23, 1996, at Britthaven of Clyde. A native of Haywood County, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Edward and Mattie Victoria Howell Caldwell. She was a member of Red Bank Baptist Church and the wife of the late Rufus Garrett Hill. Surviving are one daughter, Clara Linda Mills of Sylva; two sons, Jack D. Hill of Waynesville, and Keith Dale Hill of Anderson, SC; two sisters, Hillis Hawkins of Westminster, MD, and Gladys Connor of Waynesville; one brother, Delmas Caldwell of Waynesville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and four great-great- grandchildren. Services were held 2 PM Friday in the chapel of Wells Funeral Home, Waynesville. The Revs Carl Presnell and Ray Sharpe officiated. Burial was in Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

She died Tuesay (4/18/89) at her residence. The Rev. Paul Carden will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Larry, Bobby, Johnny and Joey Hill, Douglas and Donnie McCracken, Charlie and Jimmy Stevens and Johnny Arrington. A lifelong resident of Haywood County, Mrs. Hill was the daughter of the late Will and Rachel Satterfield Arrington. Surviving are her husband, Claude Hill, two daughters Katherine Ensley of Walton, Kentucky and Juanita Cable of Waynesville, 16 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9PM today at Garrett Funeral Home where the body will remain until 30 minutes before the services. At other times the family will be at the residence.

Agnes Hill Burgess, 80, of Route 1, Saunook Road, Waynesville, died Thursday at her residence. A native of Haywood County, she had resided most of her life in the Saunook Community. She was the daughter of the late William Albert and Mary Elizabeth Clark Hill and was the wife of Herman Edgar Burgess, who died in 1966. She was a member of the Pleasant Balsam Baptist Church and was an active member of the Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and the Ladies Prayer Group. Surviving are two daughters, Susie Young and Jean Smathers, both of Waynesville; a son Raymond E. Burgess of Manhattan Beach, California; a brother, Claude Hill of Waynesville; a sister, Decie Smathers of Waynesville; seven grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Services will be at 2PM Sunday in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home. The Rev Paul Carden will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John and Jay Blanton, Chris Bryson, David Schulhofer, Bob Mills and Jessie Hall. The Adult Ladies Sunday School Class will serve as honorary escorts. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 PM on Saturday at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at the residence.
