Per the Passenger & Immigration Index 1500-1900s, he came over on Ship "Thistle" in 1730 & lists his accompanying family member as Son Johannes and son Wilhelm Heim came over on this same ship. Aug. 2001, I found that Wilhelm (William) Heim (HIMES) came to PA from the Rheinland/Pfalz - Palatinate area of Mutterstadt, Germany, on the Ship "Thistle" Aug. 27, 1730 His wife's name is still unknownm their children were: Anna Margaretha Heim m. Philip Groscost; Wilhelm Heim m. Judith?, Hans Paul Heim, Jr. m. Anna Mabel Volcker, and Anna Maria Heim m. Jeremiah Hess. (Hans Paulus Heim is the 7th gr-grandfather of my husband, John Wendell Himes, Jr.) ...Gen 2: Wilhelm (Wm) Heim's wife's is Judith?. He settled in York Co, Hanover(borough)PA. One of William's son is Francis Himes, born Mar 15,1737 & the "Surname" was changed to "HIMES" after Wilhem came to America. Records show that the families that moved away to MD, NY, VA, & OH changed the spelling from HEIM to HIMES. ...Gen 3 Francis & Catherine (Christ)Heim's had Salomina Heim b: 1760, John Heim b:1763, Catherine b:1766, Jacob b:1773, George b:1775, Elizabeth b:1779 & Samuel b. 1784. ...Gen 4 John Heim/Himes b: 10-12-1763, York Co. Hanover Twp, PA. He is the first record of a "John Himes" & there were many, including my husband & my father-in-law, John Wendell Himes, Sr., both of whom were born in Dayton, OH. John and Dottie (Porter) Himes lineage comes from this JOHN HIMES B. 1763. John Himes left PA around 1787/88 & settled in Fayette Co, KY, his 1st son, Samuel B. Himes was born Apr 8, 1789, Fayette Co., KY. Question, did John marry before he went to KY? A relative said that he & brother, Samuel went down the Cumberland but I am questioning that as his brother would have been 4 years old. John & unknown wife, children were: Samuel B. b:4-8-1789 m:Elizabeth Swadener, Mary b:2-13-1791 m:Henry Dickensheets, Elizabeth b:5-17-1794 m: John M. Dodds,Catherine Himes b:9-10- 1796 m: Daniel Jordan, George b: 1-31-1799, Martin b: 5-16-1801 m:Mary ?, Francis b:4-16-1803 born & died in PA?, Nancy Himes b: 5-16-1806 m: James Dean. Records show that John bought land in Washington Twp, OH in 1808. John died 11-28-1813, Montgomery County, OH. In 1957 he sold it to the Archdiocese of Baltimore "St. Johns Literary Institute. ...HIMES, WYOMING is still on the 2003 Atlas, near Greybull, WY but it is no longer a town. John & Dottie Himes found Himes, WY in 2001 & there is a Georgia Pacific Gypsum Plant there but no homes remain, just foundations.
