18. ARCHELAUS DICKINSON4 HALE (JAMES M.3, THOMAS2, JOHN1 HAILE) was born May 02, 1815 in Russell Co, Virginia, and died January 08, 1898 in Reynolds, Minnesota. He married (1) ELIZABEH DOUGHTERY June 04, 1835, daughter of WILLIAM DOUGHTERY and RUTH TOWSON. She was born Abt. 1811 in Va, and died April 22, 1891 in Pike Co. Ky.. He married (2) LOUISA YOUNG July 05, 1851. She was born October 22, 1830, and died February 04, 1914 in Minnesota.

Another early settler passed away last Saturday ( Jan. 8, 1898). Archelaus D. Hale died of old age that day at his home out in the town of Reynolds (Minnesota) seven miles southwest of here. Mr. Hale settled near Fairy lake in Reynolds in the spring of '66 over thirty years ago.Later he moved to the farm on which he died. Deceased was born in Virginia on May 2, 1815 , making his age at the time of death 82 years, 8 months and 6 days. Mr. Hale was married twice during his life. Six children were born to him by his first wife, three of whom are still living. By his second wife, who survives him,ten children were born and all of them are living and were here to the funeral. They are B. F., J. H., Alex, and Amos Hale, Mrs. J.D. Jones,Mrs. Wm Livingston,Mrs. H. Moore and Miss Sadie Hale, living here and out in Reynolds; Mrs. Fannie Truax, of Hastings, and Mrs. Sue Truax, of St. Paul Park. The funeral took place out in Reynolds at 10 o'clock Monday forenoon ,(Jan 10, 1898) Rev. J. F. Looke officiating. Interment was made in the village cemetery here.
