Notes for Wilburn Hale: Wilburn applied for disability pension in Russell Co. Va. in 1908. stating he was totally disabled suffering from kidney and heart failure and an injury in the Civil war. He was a confederate soldier in the 7 th Virginia Calvary. In 1916 a doctor declared him totally blind and he was awarded a check for $180.00 for the pension year of 1916.
