Notes for JOHN DANIEL, SR:
John Daniel, Sr. was born after 1654 in Virginia. He and his brother Robert fled to the Island of Barbsdos in 1676. They had been among frontier farmers in Virginia that had participated in Nathaniel Bacon's Rebellion against Governor William Berkley. They had defeated the Indians on the frontier; they had controlled most of Virginia; and they had burned Berkley's captiol and the city of Jamestown. When the rebellion failed they had fled to escape the wrath of Governor Berkley, who was hunting down Bacon's followers and executing them.
John Daniel was baptized in St James Parrish, Christ Church, Barbados Island on September25, 1676.
He married Anne. On December 20, 1679 he owned 55 slaves and 160 acres of land in Christ Church District.
John Daniel sailed from Barbados on March 9, 1679( this date is questionable) on board the ship "John's Adventure" commanded by John Welch to Antegua. John settled in Yorke County, Virginia about 1689.
