My people were mostly of English and Irish extraction and the majority of my confirmed forebears from the third prior generation and earlier were Quakers. Their immigration pattern was by way of Massachussetts, Nantucket, Virginia, Pennsylvania and Eastern North Carolina to Orange, Guilford and Randolph counties in Piedmont North Carolina. My branch remained in central NC but others branches went west, beginning with Indiana in the Mid-19th Century. I have an active interest in collateral lines as well and would be happy to hear from anyone whose tree includes some of the surnames above. |
