| The Hippenstiel family originates from the Wittgenstein area in Westphalia, Germany. Rumors have it that the first Hippenstiel was a soldier from swedish troops maroding through the lands during and after the "30 Years War". The phone directory lists 125 Hippenstiels in Germany, and I estimate another 500 or so around the world. Soundex code is H154 - there are many Hippensteel, Hippensteal, Hippenstil and the like recorded in WFT indices. There are already links to other published family trees that I would like to trace further. |
