I am researching the Hobson family from South Gippsland, Victoria, Australia. Edwin Hobson first appears in the Tasmanian Archives as arriving in Van Dieman's Land (Tasmania) on 19th August 1836. He departed London aboard the ship "Lord Lyndoch" on 24th April 1836 as a convict, but I don't know where he was before that. He married Isabella Oliver in Oatlands, Tasmania in 1844 and they had one son: Benjamin born in 1845. At some point they travelled by sea to Port Albert, South Gippsland and lived out their lives in this area. |
