The Natchitoches Genealogical and Historical Association concentrates on Natchitoches Parish, LA, but we also try to cover all the area that made up the original Natchitoches Parish which cover most of Northwest Louisiana including the current parishes of Caddo, Bossier, Claiborne, Bienville, Webster, Sabine, Red River, DeSoto and parts of Winn, Grant, Lincoln, and Vernon Parishes. We have French records that date to the early 1700s, marriages, mortgages, and family information that have been donated to the Association. We also have Newspapers dating to 1903, census records, accession records, deeds, citizenship records, and other records on microfilm and cdrom. We also have publications covering many of the United States. In addition, we have a close working relationship with the Natchitoces Parish Clerk of Court's office, who is the custodian of legal records for the parish and they use our expertise for them. We charge a $10.00 initial fee for research. All of our workers are volunteers, so this money is used to purchase genealogical materials for our library. We now have for sale a book by Dr. Tommy Johnson documenting the travels of St. Denis from Canada to Mobile, AL, to Natchitoches and Mexico and back to Fort St. Jean de Baptiste in Natchitoches. He has also included information on several generations of the Juchereau family as well as other personalities who were closely associated with St. Denis.
