We are researching the following family groups: HJELMBERG/JELMBERG Carl David Johansson and his wife Ingrid came to America from the Smalland area of Sweden in about 1880. We have information regarding the ancestry of this family in Sweden but have not been able to track them in the years immediately preceeding their immigration to America. Their name in Sweden was Johansson. So far there is no record of them using the name Hjelmberg in Sweden. HUFF We believe the Huffs came to America from the Alsace region of France in the early 1800s. They may have lived in New York for a short time and then moved to the Zanesville area of Ohio. The name may have been Huffman, Hoffman or Hough originally. My ggrandfather Anthony Huff married Julia Paul in Zanesville. PAUL Many members of the Pauls came to America from the Alsace region of France in the early 1800s. They initially settled in New York. We believe that Peter Paul was born in Utica or West Turin, NY in 1834. This record has not been found. His parents were Valentine and Elizabeth Dietenbeck Paul. After a few years this family moved to Zanesville, OH where they continued to live. Many members of the extended Paul family also immigrated and a large number of them settled in Zanesville also. Some however did remain in New York. RENQUIST/REHN Peter Rehn came to America from the Smalland area of Sweden with his wife Carolina to Minnesota. He changed his name to Rehnquist. Rehn was his grandfathers name. Peter took the name Renquist when he came to America. Peter was an only child. FALK Andrew Andersson Falk came to America from Vasternorland in Sweden to Minnesota. He stayed with a sister in Albert Lea he moved to Marine on St. Croix and married Emma Smith from Center City, MN in 1875. Over time many members of this Falk family immigrated. |
