I am researching several surnames but those I'm most interested in just now are listed below and I have very little information on most of them.
The first is the MacAskill family from Duirinish, Inverness, Scotland. Donald MacAskill (born about 1848) married Mary Campbell (born about 1855). They had three children: Finlay, Julia (my grandmother) and Maggie. Maggie may have died in the late 1950s or early 1960s in Glasgow, Scotland. Julia married John Williams and had sons -- Peter, Archie, Donald, Angus and Finlay.
The second is the Sinclair family from Orkney. This is an extremely common name there but my branch of the family was probably all from Kirkwall or Orphir. The earliest name I have is John Sinclair who married Betsy Rosie Borwick. I have no other information on him. They had seven children that I know of - John William Sinclair, Isabella Sinclair, Catherine Sinclair, Jane Sinclair, Mary Sinclair, Carlotte Sinclair, and Walter Sinclair. Walter Sinclair also had a lot of children - Eric Sinclair born about 1805; Esther Sinclair, Mary Bruce Sinclair, Robert Paterson Sinclair, William Sinclair, Walter Sinclair, and James Sutherland Sinclair. James was born August 22, 1816 to Margaret Mason. Their daughter Jemima was my maternal grandmother.
The third family is Drever from Orkney. Jemima Sinclair (above) married John Drever on October 2, 1857. She was born on October 2, 1838. They had 12 children - one of them Jemima Sinclair Drever was born August 22, 1879 and died October 2,1947 in Kirkwall, Orkney.
I'll be happy to share any information I have with anyone who thinks I can help them. I have more information on the children of the above families but it gets pretty sketchy the closer we get to this generation.
