Henry Hoagland (b. October 1768, d. October 12, 1818)
Henry Hoagland was born October 1768 in Holland, and died October 12, 1818 in Hickory Twp, Pa.. He married Catherine Phillips on date unknown in ?.
Notes for Henry Hoagland: Henry was born in Holland. Came to America and settled in Virginia. He then moved to Washington Co., Pa. where he raised 4 children. He purchased land in Sharon or rather Hickory Twp. Her purchased his land from John Lamb who bought from P. Hindl. Thomas Stockley of VA proved to be the real owner. The land was on N. Water Ave. beginning at Orangeville Rd and ending at the hollow at a stream known as Hoagland's Run. He operated a Saw Mill at that location for many years. In 1803 Daniel Hull, Henry Hoagland and others built a log school house on the Hoagland property. David Hayes was the first School Teacher. In 1807 Henry was a Lt Col in the 135th Regt of Pa Militia 1814- Henry was a Constable in Pymatuning Twp, Now Hermitage, Pa.. He was also a Twp Supervisor. Henry was buried in the old Baptist Cemetery on the West Hill of Sharon and in 1926 was moved to Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage, Pa.
