The family names that we are primarily researching are Everett, Goodchild, Hobson, and Walterson.
The Everett name came from Peter Perry Pomeroy Everett who was born Everts 08 August 1853 in Burritts Rapids, Ontario, Canad and died 19 January 1931 in Iroquois, Ontario, Canada. He married Sarah Ann Wilson 02 March 1897 in Iroquois, Ontario, Canada. His father was Elisha Everts (b. 25 Dec, 1800 in Burritts Rapids, Ontario, Canada, d. 13 December 1866 in Iroquois, Ontario, Canada). Elisha Everts married Margaret Kelly and they had 8 sons and 4 daughters. Elisha's father was Roswell Everts (b. 05 November 1765 in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut, USA) and he was an United Empire Loyalist and he left Vermont about 1780, entered Canada by Lake Champlain and settled in Burrits Rapids, Ontario, Canada. Roswell's father (b. 31 March 1721 in Guilford, New Haven, Connecticut, USA, d. 05 Feb 1809 in Fair Haven, Vermont, USA) and he was proscribed 'as a Tory' by his brother-in-law, Governor Thomas Chittenden of Vermont, for his support of General Burgoyne's army and all of his property was ordered seized for the benefit of the state.
George Frederick Goodchild was my grandfather. He immigrated to Canada in 1905. He was born April 5, 1882 in Suffolk, England and died March 26, 1979 in Oxbow, Saskatchewan, Canada. The earliest reference I have to a Goodchild is John who married Mary (last name unknown). They had 3 children; Thomas (b. 1751, d. February 4, 1819), Mary (b. September 15, 1752) and William (b. October 1, 1758). George married Leila Ida Moore and they had nine children; 3 sons and 6 daughters.
Harry Hobson was born October 19, 1877 in Congleton, Cheshire, England. He came to Canada prior about 1902. He married Annie Grierson Palmer in Canada and had his first child ,Janet, in 1906. They had eight children. Harry's parents were Richard and Mary Taylor. According to the 1881 census they lived at 14 Livingstone Street, Leek, Staffordshire, England. The had nine children. Richard was born Oct-Dec 1831 in Sandbach, Cheshire, England and was listed as a smallware weaver in the 1881 census. His parents were John Hobson and Hannah Mottershead. They had eight childern. Mary was born about 1837 in Congleton, Cheshire, England to John and Ann Taylor. Annie Palmer was born 29 May 1880 in Pickering, Ontario, Canada and died 23 August 1973 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Annie's parents were Walter and Janet Palmer (nee Bell). They homesteaded in the Blaris district of Manitoba in 1880 with Janet's father, William Bell, and some of her siblings.
Kristjan Sigvaldason was born September 6, 1862 in Hallbjarnareyri, Setberg parish, Snaefellsnes, Iceland and died August 1, 1941 in Riverton, Manitoba, Canada. He came to Canada with his father (Sigvaldi Thorvaldsson), 2 brothers and 1 sister. They anglicized their name and became Walterson. Kristjan married Gudrun Helgadottir and they had 3 children. He then married Sigurbjorg Olina Johannsdottir Schaldemose and they had one child, Bjarni Schaldemose Walterson.
The other names of particular interest in this family tree are Bell, Einarson, Ellis, Fjeldsted, Gilroy, Harrison, Johnson, Lennox, Marshall, Moore, Mottershead, Palmer, Paulson and Schaldemose, Shelmerdine.
