Notes for Francois Savoie:
Virtually all the Savoiesor Savoys in North America descend from Francois Savoy, born Martaize, France abt 1621. He came to Port Royal in Acadia in 1642 under the administration of Charled de'Menou Aulany ,where he married Catherine Lejuene abt 1651. The line of descent passwd through Francois's son Germain born abt 1654 in Port Royal, Acadia. he married Marie Breau dau of Vincent Breau and Marie Bourg in 1680.
The Savoies of the Miramichi are descended from Germain's son also named germain
The second Germain born abt 11681 married Genevieve Babineau, dau of Nicholas Babineau & Marie Granger at Port Royal in 1709. Their 3 sons who lived in Chepoudy (shepoudie) are jean (1710-1791) are also called lane , jean-Baptiste ,born in 1712 and Joseph born in 1717.
They were part of a group of Acadians refugees who came to the Miramichi in 1756 during the "Grand Derangement" which transulates into English as the great trouble. but is better known as the "Expulsion of the Acadians"
Approximately 500-600 refugees died on the Miramichi during the severe winter of 1755-1757. Twenty familis remained and the rest left for Northern New Brunswick.
The 20 families including the Savoie brothers may have settled around Beaubears Island before moving on to the Neguac area by 1768. The oldest brother Jean(Lane) was married to Anne Landry daughter of Charles Landry and Catherine Brossard in 1735.
Their 5 sons are as follows
(1) Pierre-Paul married Anne-Marie Bujold dau of Joseph Bujold & Marie-Josephe Landry in 1770 & settled in Neguac
(2) Jean born abt 1740 and married Marie Allain dau of Louis Allain & Anne Legere abt 1778 & settled in
Neguac
(3) Joseph abt 1745-1810 married Marguerite Bujold dau of Paul Bujold & Marie Poirier in 1778 & settled in Neguac
(4) Francois abt 1745-1810 married Anne poirier & settled in Caraquet NB
(5) Amand abt 1754-1811 also called Menon (mar) Isabelle-Anastasie Breau dau of Ambroise Breau & Marie Michel at Oak Point

Germains second son Jean-Baptiste born 1712 mar Marguerite Blanchard dau of Germain Blanchard & Jeanne Dupis in 1737 at Port Royal & settled in Neguac
Jean-Baptiste had two sons (1) Jean-Simon abt 1742-1815 (mar )Marie Arsenault dau of Vincent Arsenault & Marie-Marguerite Poirier & settled in Pokemouche
(2) Firmin who married Marie-Rose Bastarache dau of Michel Bastarache & Marguerite Gaudet abt 1778 & settled in Tabusintac & Tracadie area he died 1857
(3) Germains third son Joseph born 1717 married Marie-Josephe Bourg dau of Joseph Bourg & Louise Robichaud in 1745.& eventually settled in Baie-des-Chaleurs area.

Most of the Savoies or Savoys in the Miramichi area can be traced back to either Jean (Lane) Jean-Baptiste or Joseph Savoie.
Many Savoies in other areas of New Brunswick can also trace their Ancestry to one of these brothers.
Since all 3 spent some time in Neguac the village certainly deserves the name "Capital of de Savoies"
