Clark 23 and Laura Rosenbalm 18 both of Independence Co., Ar. issued 31 Dec 1889; marriage performed 2 Jan 1889 and filed for record on 7 Jan 1889. Obvious a mistake between the December and January of the following year, Granny Clark lied about her age and told her kids she put the #17 written on a scrap of paper in her shoe, so she could truthfully tell the court she was over 18. Bixby Bulletin, 2 Oct 1986; LAURA CLARK CLAN GREET A LONG LOST KINSMAN;Recent resarch into the family of Jacob Rosenbalm, who died in 1887 near Batesville, Ark., and his daughter, Laura Clark, who moved to the Bixby/Mounds area after her husband, Jim Clark's death in 1920, by Mrs. Clark's granddaughter, Shirley Coyle of Tulsa, has resulted in locating a nephew of Mrs. Clark's, Butler Wallingsford, in Lubbock, Texas and a family reunion to introduce Wallingsford to "some of his family." Mrs. Clark, who died in 1960, lived with her father and some half brothers and sisters until Rosenbalm's death at which time she was separated from her siblinggs and had not reestablished contact with any of them at the time of her death. Wallingsford and his wife, Vuna, arrived in Tulsa on Sept. 20 for the reunion along with other family members, including four generations of Mrs. Clark's family. Others attending were Ledia Pini of Evansville, Indiana, Mildred Ponder, Mattie Call and Sharon Olansen all of Kellyville; Emma Matlock and Marcella Osborn both of Bixby; Elizabeth Kitterman and Robert and Wanda Dean, all of Sapulpa; Robert Clark of Waco, Texas, Luther and Edith Killion of Lincoln, Arkansas; Annie Medlock and Loretta Rader, both of Owasso; Eunice Brant and Velma Brant, both of Muldrow and Barbara Farmer of Ft Worth, Texas. Also, Larry and Larry Dwain Clark of Okmulgee, Bill and Bonita Bishop, Clint Lawrence, Wanda, Justin, Christine, Lynda, Benjamin and Colon Guerrero, Bobbie Barbour, Johnny and Lori Johnson, Randy, Kathy, Pat, Randy, Jr., Dale, J.D., Kristy, Kevin, Shirley and Eulice Coyle; Mutt and Lillian Palmer, Rhonda Clark, and Hershell, Bobbie, Christina, Hershel, Jr., Shelley and Chad Clark, all of Tulsa and Willie Day, also of Bixby. Mrs. Day's sister was married to one of the Clark brothers. Note by SC: This old den was really rocking that day - never saw so many smiles and hugs and Oh the stories my aunts and Butler had to catch up on. Such good memories. This was the first, but following that meeting, several of the Rosenbalm family members attended the Clark Reunion held every year at Heyburn Lake near Kellyville, Ok. Corareen Lee, of Houston, Texas and her brother Leo Rosenbaum of Little Rock made a couple before they died. Other members of Butler Wallingsford's family came and one daughter of David Rosenbalm; Frances Mayes of Yukon, Ok made several of the gatherings. Each time one arrived Aunt Mattie, who had problems getting around, would go strutting across that camp area to greet each one with a big smile and obviously in peak form mentally. note The data I sent you had 1890 as marriage year for James W. and Laura Rosenbalm Clark. Some confusion has come up because the court clerk had Dec 31, 1889 as bond date, Jan 2, 1889 as marriage date and 7 Jan 1889 as filing date, so with the year changing between Dec and Jan, I had put 1890. Last night while going through records I ran across my photocopy of the old William Clark Family Bible, passed to Jesse and Rebecca Clark, then James W. and Laura Clark, then to my aunt, Mattie Clark Call. I had forgotten that the oldest son was given in that record and it read, "John William Clark born 26 Sep 1889, son of J.W. and Laury Clark". This pretty much confirms that the bond date and not the marriage date was the one in error. Thanks, Shirley Clark Coyle
