The information on Olianne's family was supplied by a Minister [Pastor] to her son Clarence. The pastor's name is S.B.Stein Hovden from Bremanger Kalvag, Norway. The following information was supplied to me, Duane W. Bittner, by my mother Ella Bittner, daughter of Olianne: Olianne, while living in Norway was baptized and confirmed there. She came to America by ship to Canada. She and her brother Peder and another young man went by train to Winnipeg, Canada and walked across country to Fertile, MN. where she lived with her uncle on a farm working to pay off her ticket. It was a hard life and when it was paid off she left to work in hotels as laundry maid in Fargo, ND. and Crookston, MN. Where she met and married to Hans C. Sampson, in Crookston, MN. Ella's cousin, Alice Ringstad gave her the following names of relatives living in Norway: Alice wrote to a second cousin of theirs who is a college graduate and reads and writes English. The names mentioned are: Hilda Indrehus and lived in Flora, Norway, Brenkass 706; the daughter of the above person is Oddney is married and lived in an old peoples hme in Kolvag, Norway, married name was Magnar. Arthur and Petter Indrevar, cousins of Ella Bittner. They lived at 5993 Husp Sogn, Norway, sons of Gullak, Ella's mother' uncle. There were 8 brothers and sisters in and near Bergan, Norway. Gustave is a brother of Arthur, all sailors. Fru Lovice Alson Indrivar, a cousin, lives in Sagn,Bergen , Norway. Arthur and Pillar are sons of Grillak, Ella's uncle. Her cousin, Reinhard Friborg, deceased, came to America and lived near Bagley, MN. His sons are Palmer, Oscar, Magnus & Abert. Palmer and Magnus lived near Bagley, Mn. Oscar in Walnut Grove, CA. and Abert was in Alaska. Albert Friborg, Ella's cousin, lived in Ervick, Sonfjord, Brtgan, Norway. Oscar Friborg, another cousin, lived in Bergan, Norway and Anna Friborg, cousin, no address. The brother to Anna, Ragvold, lived in Ervik, Sondfjord, Bergan, Norway.
