| The Ancestors and I welcome you to my Home Page! The Graves & Bennett family reports have been updated as of July 10, 2003. My BENNETT ancestors are first found in Brothersvalley township, Somerset County, Pennsylvania in the late 1700's. They moved to Canada in the early 1800's where they were farmers. In the mid 1800's my direct line moved to Ravenna township, Muskegon County, Michigan The COBER/KOBER ancestors came from Germany to Pennsylvania and on to Canada, none that I know of moved on to Michigan with the Bennett family. The GODFREY's came from England to Massachutsetts > New York> Michigan Much of the research was done previously and is included in a Family book "The Godfrey Family-12 Generations" This book is very extensive and has much information on the descendants of Richard Godfrey & Jane Turner. There is on-going research to find Richard Godfrey/Godfree in England. The GRAVES ancestors start out in Quebec, Canada in the late 1700's. They moved to Clinton County, New York where they lived until just after 1840. From New York they moved to Waukesha County, Wisconsin for approximately 6 years. In 1857 they removed to Muskegon County, Michigan where they made their final home. I am currently working on the Mitchell families of York Co.,Ontario Canada, the STORMS and SMITH families from New York to Sandusky County, Ohio (1840) to Michigan (1850). These three lines are giving me a run for my money! I have tried to verify as much data on these families as possible. There may be mistakes, but it's a starting point. I urge anyone who is interested in any of this information to verify, verify, verify. I have traveled up many a dead-end road following inaccurate information. I have found several references to varied ancestors on the internet that are very misleading and in many cases just inaccurate. It's unfortunate that some researchers are not interested in sources/verification rather they seem to be "Name Collectors" This kind of research only makes it more difficult for serious genealogists. On the last page of each family line you will find a listing of sources for the surnames, there may be some sources I have that are not included. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Hope you find a long lost ancestor of your own while here! If you do, please contact me...I love meeting new "Cousins" |
