My Family BlessingsUpdated May 2, 2013 | |
| I began my interest in genealogy through an 11th grade psychology class project. We had to do a family tree, complete with photos and an interview with the oldest living member of our family. Many students turned in 3-4 loose leaf pages and called it a day. I turned in a notebook complete with a pedigree chart, descendant reports, family group sheets, photo album and sources. When it was returned, there was a note attached (I still have the notebook and the note) with the following: "A+++ This is beyond my wildest dreams. This book will serve as a source of pride of a family legacy you have documented so that it may never be forgotten. Superb work!" This began a life long love of genealogy and preserving the legacy my ancestors have entrusted to me to pass on to future generations. My research includes the following surnames: Amos, Fort, Ivey, Weaver, Williams, Tingle, Smith, Sutton, Parker, Wise, Mackey, Lindsey, Hoard, Hatcher, Harrison, Taylor, Medlock, Phinazee, Brooks, Nelson, McCallum, and others just to name a few. I firmly believe that family history not shared is just continued family secrets. However, family history shared, helps to insure your family legacy continues for all future generations. What a gift!
