|I enjoy vicariously the genaeology of my family through the efforts of my Aunt Elizabeth Hogue (Betty). She sends the results of her research to me and I store and preserve it. Since I am several years younger, I suppose she figures she'll meet our maker before I do and I'll pass the family story on to later generations.
This may seem to some a rather lazy approach to the subject. Well, maybe! However, for reasons I don't care to reveal here, I happily share the duties of (unofficial) family archivist with my cousin, David Russel Hogue of Oregon; at least for the time being. David is the first son of Herbert Larry and Elizabeth Creed Hogue and manages the computer much better than I.
Family reunions in my branch of the family are limited to the occasional holiday or weekend visit among the immediate members of two or three households. However, I read in some info from the Old Opequon Church in Kernstown, VA that a rather large reunion of the church was held in the 19th century for the purpose of dedicating and consecrating the present building. This, I feel certain, was attended by not a few members of the Hoge/Hogue family. I hasten to add that were I to hear of a reunion, I could be persuaded to attend (schedule permitting).
I am in the ninth generation of the Hoge/Hogue family since immigration in 1682. I know of 7 books published about the family or peripheral families. The earliest from 1927 titled "The Family of Hoge" by Gov. James Hoge Tyler of VA. The ensuing publications all seem to begin with this book's opening paragraphs. The book is now out of print but my aunt obtained a legally Xeroxed copy from a company that does such things.
Anyone having or researching information on the name of Hoge/Hogue descending from William and Barbara Hume Hoge of Kernstown, Virgina should contact Elizabeth Hogue @ 5105 Oak Ave., Pasadena, TX 77503.
Other names being researched by Betty are:
