* The Michael Hogans of Infianapolis, IN*

Updated September 26, 2006

I am descended from several nationality groups, Irish, English, German and Swiss. I have been the fortunate recipient of a family history of my maternal grandfather's English slineage dating to 1634 in America ( Connecticut). My German heritage is relatively easy to find, as the Germans were/are excellent recorders of birth and death records. I can date my German ancestry to 1700.
I can trace my Irish roots to 1790 but unfortunately the records there are not available before then, as the English rulers did not recognize the Catholic population during the "penal times", which date to 1690.
I have not done any serious research on my Swiss roots. I do know that my third great grandfather came from the Canton of Bern. I need to get to work on that branch of my history.
I have found a good deal of information on Ancestry.com, as this is a very convenient and reliable way to obtain genealological data.
