Marriage Notes for Blanche Eloise Kitchens and James Clyde Kimbrough: Lois and Clyde Kimbrough had a very strange wedding. It was to be a double wedding. Lois' best friend Sina McCowell and Clydes cousin Cecil Kimbrough were engaged so they were going to get married together on a Saturday afternoon, August 11, 1934. Word got out in the community and it was suspected that they were going to "shivaree" them big time. In order to beat them to the draw, the two couples decided to go over to Preacher John Youngs house the night before. He lived across the creek from Chalybeate which was not easy to get to. When the couples got there it was dark and the preacher was home but not expecting them. He was out of oil for the lamp. The only way to have any light was for the boys to strike kitchen matches. It was most likely a very brief double wedding ceremony.
