The Descendants of Thomas Holman (1800 NC > 1844 AR)

Thomas Holman was born about 1800 in North Carolina. He was present in Clark County, Territory of Arkansas, as early as 1829. Living nearby was a Joseph Holman, perhaps a younger brother or nephew to Thomas. During the 1830/1840s Thomas and wife Levisa (poss. KNAPP) were present in Saline and Hot Spring Counties, Arkansas, until his death in 1844.
The youngest children of Thomas and Levisa were Joseph (b. 1836 AR) and Thomas (b. 1838 AR). Thomas (b. 1800) may have had a daughter or sister named Elizabeth who was found to have married a James L. KNAPP during 1844 in Hot Spring Co., Arkansas.

Following the death of Thomas, Levisa remarried to a John TRAMMELL SR. and relocated,with husband and sons Joseph and Thomas, to Hempstead County, AR, by 1850 census.

Son Joseph Holman lived out his life in Sevier County, AR, serving in the Civil War and representing Sevier County as its judge and state representative to the Arkansas General Assembly. I have a copy of letter to Judge Joseph Holman from W.F. CODY ("Buffalo Bill"), dated 27 May 1886, relating to horse thieves WILLIAMS and BEVINS.
