Allen J. Stewart's first marriage to his cousin, Nancy Catherine Stewart, produced five children. He had seven children by his second marriage to Elizabeth Gracy, whom he married October 17, 1838 in Lauderdale County, Alabama (Lauderdale Co. AL Marriage Records, Book 2, Vol. 4, page 23). Six of the seven children are known: Margaret Elizabeth, James A., Nancy E., Anne, Charles G., and Elizabeth Caroline. Elizabeth Caroline STEWART (1849-1908) was the wife of John A. SHERRILL (1844-1927). John and Elizabeth SHERRILL were the parents of my great grandmother, Mary Elizabeth (Sherrill) GUTHRIE (1881-1968).
