I would love to share my love of history and of my family with
anyone who is interested in sharing it with me. I knew none
of my grandparents so I had very little knowledge of them,
especially since my parents were the babies of their families. The only thing that I really had was hearing old family stories by some of my older relatives. I remember my Aunt Bessie telling me how her grandmother, Julia Standley Helm came to Oklahoma in a covered wagon with her family. I would imagine that was a very trying time with several children in tow. I have really loved connecting with distant relations on both
sides of my parents families. I have made several strong bonds
even though I have never met them personally. Related families include: Shott, McBride,Jones, Dyer,Shoemaker, Walker, Dicey, Powell, Standley (Stanley), Helm, Goldman, Gholson, Heffington, and many others..I am leaving this as a heritage for my children and their children and any future generations to know where and who they came from. As with any family there are good and bad relations found. I have found many good ancestors in our past clear back to prior to the forming of the United States. I have discovered Senators, judges, and lawyers, along with several Physicians including one who was the only Physician in Collin County, Texas during the Civil War period. I am proud to come from this lineage of great Americans. I have crossed the water on some of my family tree lineage and have now come across Sirs, ladys, magistrates, Dukes, Earls, and even kings in my heritage. I am so happy that I began this conquest of my past. It has given me a good feeling and since of belonging to the entire world. Feel free to contact me or to copy any of the information that I have gathered from boxes in court house basements, from Historical societies, word of mouth of older relatives, and going thru many old cemeteries in search of headstones. If you have new information on this family, I would love for you to share it with me. I hope that anyone reading and looking at this site can gain some knowledge and help with their personal quest in delving into their past. Please don't hesitate one bit about contacting me. I would really love to include your family information on this page as well. My files include well over 2000 individuals and is impossible to include everyone on this page, but I will try to do so. I recently had the opportunity to meet cousins that I had never met before, when on July 15, 2006 we all met together to replace my great-grandfathers Civil War Headstone. It was really a very special day in many ways. I found that I had more family and now have pictures of many that have gone on to a better place. I hope to continue to had to my family try and find even more family members. Would love to hear from anyone in these families.
