My name is Richard Hollis and I am researching my Hollis and Patterson roots.
My Hollis family includes the surnames: Hollis, Maxwell, Creecy/Creasy/Creasey, Smith, Drake, Cunningham.
My Patterson family includes the surnames: Patterson, Mitchell, Davenport, Riggins, Spears, Pigg, Jasper, Combest, Peck, Hammond, Wilson, Dick, Gayle, Young.

My James Hollis ancestor born abt 1727 married about 1758 Ann Cunningham in VA, his son James Hollis II born 22 June 1759 in Bedford Co. VA married Sarah Drake abt 1781 Tennessee, came to Tennesse before 1779. His son Stephen Hollis born abt 1788 in Tennessee married Nancy Unknown abt 1809 Tennessee moved with his family to Stoddard County, Missouri. His son William Allen Hollis born abt 1822 in Tennessee first married abt 1840 to Nancy Loggan, then married Jane Smith (see their picture below) and was in 1860 Census of Sherrill, Texas Co., Missouri and had moved to Scott County, Arkansas before 1870. Their son Stephen Compton Hollis (picture below) born 20 Nov 1858 Stoddard County, Missouri married between 1880-1882 Unknown Indian who died in the birth of my gf, Stephen remarried Sarah Ann Sessions and moved to Oklahoma. His son (my gf) James Cornelius Hollis born 2 December 1882 in Arkansas came to Hunt County, Texas near Commerce at the age of ten and lived with an aunt and uncle by the name of Hammock. In Sherman, Texas my gf James Cornelius Hollis married Nancy Jane Maxwell (their marriage picture below) abt 1908 in Collin County, Texas. My father Amos Lee Hollis was born in Melissa, Collin County, Texas on 6 June 1923. (See my mom and dad's picture below)

My Mathew Patterson II was born 1790 in Buncombe Co., NC. He moved with his family to Dehlonega, Lumpkin County, Georgia abt 1828. His son Benjamin S. Patterson born 1 April 1819 in Buncombe Co. married Martha Jane Peck in Lumpkin Co. 10 March 1844. He moved his family on to Casey County, Kentucky while his father and the rest of the family went on Tippah County, Mississippi where Mathew died in 1855. Benjamin's son Patrick Luther Patterson born 1 Aug 1846 in Lumpkin Co. married Gilla Ann Combest in Russell County, Kentucky.
Their son Howard Morton Patterson was born 5 April 1868 in Casey County. m: Martha Hogan Davenport 18 Dec. 1887 and moved his family to Collin County, Texas 1890-1891. (picture of their kids below)
Their son Benjamin Harrison Patterson b: 11 April 1889 m: on 11 July 1909 Rosie Mitchell b: 7 Feb 1891 Alabama.(her parents: A. R. Mitchell born March 1857 Georgia and N.L. "Liza" Beason born June 1866 Alabama)
Their daughter Vera Oleta Patterson b: 4 Feb. 1928 m: Amos Lee Hollis 1 Jan 1946 in Clay County, Texas.
Their son Richard Dean Hollis b: 23 May 1951 in Decatur, Wise County, Texas married 14 June 1975 Charlene Olivia Galyon born 7 January 1950 and has two children, Honor Galyon Hollis born 13 April 1978 and Charles Andrew Hollis born 5 June 1984.

I am the President of the Kentucky Combest Family Association. The Reunion is held every other year in Somerset, Pulaski County, Kentucky the 2nd weekend of June.
