Augustine Herman's 1673 Map of the Chesapeake Bay

Augustine Herman's 1673 Map of the Chesapeake Bay
This map was created by my 9th great-grandfather for Cecil Calvert, Lord Baltimore. It was one of the best early maps of the Chesapeake Bay. In return for his excellent cartography, Herman was granted the title of "Lord" and a large estate at the head of the bay that he named Bohemia Manor after his European homeland. Two copies of the map are known to exist, one in the British Museum and the other in the John Carter Brown Library in Providence, Rhode Island.
