Obituary
Jennie Dewar was born in Middlesex, Canada, August 27, 1854. In 1860 she came with her parents to Westfield. She was married to Hugh Ogle on July 4th, 1873.
For one year they lived with his parents on the old Ogle farm in the town of Westfield. They then moved to the home near Oxford where she spent the remainder of her life. This union was blessed with five children, two of whom died in infancy.
In March, 1921, her husband departed this life. Since then she has remained on the farm with her son John.
During her life in this vicinity she endeared herself to the hearts of all who knew her. Familiarly known as "Aunt Jennie" she will be missed from her accustomed place here and our one consolation in our loss is the assurance that we enjoy that she is now delivered from the ills of the flesh which have borne her down during the late years of her life. The courage and fortitude that she showed in the suffering that she was called upon to bear are well known to all of us. The cheerfulness which she exhibited in the face of trials which were such severe tests of her vitality, and endurance as well, mark the state of mind that Isaiah attributes to him whose mind is stayed on God.
During the last few months of her life, she received the most tender care and loving kindness that loving hands could give.
On November 10th she passed away heaving evidence as through her entire sickness of that peace of mind which the Father grants to those who minds are stayed on Him.
Mrs. Ogle was one of a family of ten children, only two of whom survive her, viz: John Dewar of Lewisville, Minn., and Mrs. Mary Wheelock.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her sister and brother, one son, John; and two daughter, Mrs. Harvey Grant and Mrs. George Foote, all of Oxford; also eleven grandchildren.
The funeral services were held at her late home on Saturday afternoon November 13th, Rev. Trembley officiating and music was furnished b a choir from Oxford. The remains of the departed were tenderly laid to rest beside her husband in the South Side Cemetery at Westfield. The pall bearers were nephews of Mrs. Ogle: Gilbert, George, Samuel, Robert, Henry and William Dewar.
Mother has one, we sadly mourn her,
To her home beyond the sky.
How we loved her and we miss her,
For to each she was so dear.
We will meet, but we will miss her,
There will be her empty chair,
And we"ll ever think with longing,
Of the dear one who rested there.
Mother has gone, the Master called her,
And she had gone in triumph homeward,
He who died her soul to save.
Though her path lay to the grave.
