Hooten-Hooton Six generations of Hootons in my line came from North Indiana, mostly New Carlisle in Olive Township in St, Joseph County. They were all descended from Thomas Hooton, born 1752 in VA, who fought in the American Revolution in NC and later moved through Kentucky into Southern Indiana and died in 1841 in Decatur County, IN. Family tradition states that the family line goes back into England, Wales, and France. In my research, I have found our ancestors spelled Houghton, Hutton, Hooten, and other variations. I'd love to hear from any relatives and anyone who has information farther back than Thomas Hooton. I'd be happy to share any of my research as well.
