Hopkins Family - From R.I. to Upper N.Y. to Northern Calif.

This American family starts with Thomas Hopkins I, who settled in Providence, Rhode Island in the 1630's. Thomas II stays in Providence but future generations move west to the frontier. Ezekiel and Charles to Foster and Scituate, R.I. Charles II to Killingley, Conn. then Madison County, N.Y. Timothy F. and Elijah Phinny Hopkins raise their families in NY until Elijah moves most the family to Wyoming, Utah, and Oakland, Ca. with the Union Pacific Railroad. Through marriage, this line of Hopkins also includes Stephen Hopkins (Mayflower); the Cranson/Baldwin/Hicks/Phinney lines of RI, Mass., and upper NY; the Nova Scotia (orig. from RI and Conn) Crosby,Cleveland, Kinney, Ring, Hilton, Churchill, Dennis, etc. families, as well as four generations of other contemporary families.
