Guy P. Morris, was executive in Portsmouth schools. PORTSMOUTH. Guy Pruden Morris, 82, of the 100 block of East Road, a retired assistant superintendent of the Portsmouth public schools, died January 28, 1991 in his home. A native of Portsmouth, Mr. Morris was a navy veteran of World War II. He served on the board of directors of the Portsmouth Children's Home and the Portsmouth Y.M.C.A. he was a member of Park View Baptist Church and Portsmouth Host Lions Club. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Sanders Morris; a daughter, Margaret M. Harrison of Richmond; a son, Louis G. Morris of Hampton; and three grandchildren. The graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Cedar Grove Cemetery by the Rev. William L. Hales. Friends may join the family from 7 to 8 p.m. today in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to Parkview Baptist Church. Margaret S. Morris. PORTSMOUTH. Margaret Sanders Morris, 78, recently of Richmond, died peacefully June 26, 2000. The widow of Guy P. Morris, she was born in Memphis, Tenn., in 1921 and moved to Portsmouth in 1950 at the time of her marriage. She was a member of Park View Baptist Church, teaching Sunday school for more than 25 years and an active supporter of the missions of the church. She taught kindergarten for a time in the Portsmouth school system.

She is survived by a daughter, Meg Harrison and her husband, Ronnie, of Richmond; a son, Louis Morris and his wife, Karen, of Hampton; a brother, Carl Sanders Jr. and his wife, Surget, of Birmingham, Ala.; and grandchildren, Melissa and Christie Harrison and Brandy Schrader and her husband, Ryan.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Park View Baptist Church, corner of Hatton Street and Crawford Parkway in Portsmouth with burial immediately following at Cedar Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Park View Baptist Church. Billups Funeral Home, Richmond, is in charge.

Jordan Windslow Grant, Jr. was an inventor. He was the master mechanic for the city of Portsmouth. On the old firehouse on Effingham Street, there is a marble slab with a piece of equipment mounted on it. Grant was the inventor. It was put on every ship in the Navy, manufactured by the Akron Brass Co.

She was a life member of Monumental United Methodist Church. She is survived by a brother, Joseph L. Grant of Portsmouth. The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Snellings Funeral Home, Churchland Chapel, by the Rev. Arthur Wingfield. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may join the family at 2 p.m. Thursday in

 the funeral home and at 3916 W. High St. Memorial donations may be made the church.
