The Mark F. Hope Family of Potomac Falls, Virginia

This page is under construction. I am researching my family's past. I've been told that my great-great grandfather, Christopher Columbus Hope, participated in the Civil War. We do not know what became of him but he left a son, Samuel Dennis Hope, my great grandfather. His son, William Frank Hope, my grandfather, was from the Norfolk, Virginia area and passed away in the early 60's. I've met him only briefly as a small child. The Hope family, I've been told, traces its origins to either 1632 or 1740 in Virginia, having emigrated from Winterhaven, Cumbria County, England. My mother's family, I believe, hails from Wales probably in the 1700's. As I am just starting to research the family, any information concerning possible lineage will be greatly appreciated.
