Find Family

WELCOME to my home page. Here you will find some of my ancestors and journey back with me to places and faces once unknown by me. You will discover the roots of my family and quite possibly find some of your roots. Please feel free to contact me at mhopper664@sprintmail.com to offer suggestions, additions and corrections. Who knows, we just might find a connection.
From Hancock County, Georgia comes the start of the Alabama BUTTS family. They moved to Montgomery County, Alabama and on into Pike and Crenshaw counties. Here they find the MESSICK girls and create a future that still runs deep and true. Along this path meet the SASSERS, some BOUTWELLS, McCALLS, WILKES and other surprises -- don't forget the JONES, SNIDERS and MATTHEWS folks...they add a lot of new associated families.

The SCHULER boys originally arrive in Lexington County and Orangeburg County, South Carolina from Switzerland with their brides and children. Some of these travellers move up to the rich farm lands of Macon County, North Carolina where their descendants can still be found today. The ending of the War Between the States gives rise to moving a little west to Tennessee and Cartersville, Georgia. A name change is in order thus providing the SHULER and SHULAR families.

If you are seeking HOPPERS, look for them in Rutherford and Macon County, North Carolina. "Go West, young man" finds a HOPPER heading for Missouri and true love. Another HOPPER finds the wide open spaces of Texas more to his liking and discovers the SEARS clan.

The sunny state of Florida finds a real McCOY from Georgia and a few NICHOLS to add delight to a family tree. Those VETZELS arrive from France and Germany to add a tale or two.

If this is not enough for you, check out the GAMMONS of Virginia and Tennessee. They have kin aplenty and some are found in Missouri, Illinois and all the way to Colorado. Some war heroes show up with this group.

It would be nice to talk to you -- I bet we can find a connection that will open an entire new line for us. Looking forward to meeting you and your history.
