Luvenia was educated in Palo Alto and at Stanford University. A 1973 Obituary reads:

"Luvinia Rachael Welch Hopper died July 19, 1973 in Palo Alto. She was 92. A native of California, she had lived in Palo Alto since early childhood. Her husband, Maximilian D. Hopper '93, was in charge of the Palo Alto power system at the time of the 1906 earthquake. In addition to her husband, she leaves five sons, including Max F. Hopper, '25, and Franklyn W. Hopper, '29, a daughter, Muriel Hopper Dawson, '34, and 23 grandchildren."
