Notes for James HOPPER: James was probably born in Belmont Co., OH. He moved to Sharon Village in Noble Co, OH. Noble County was formed from two other counties, Belmont and Morgan. His occupation was Black Smith. James and Margaret were married by S.R. Brockunier a Methodist Episcopal Minister, record was found in the Genealogical Records of Belomont Co., OH, Vol 6, Marriage Records Vol 2, pg 357. He is buried in the Sharon Cemetery, Sharon, OH with his sons Zaddock J. Hopper and Alvin M. Hopper. James was born probably at Somerton or in Bellair and later the family bought property in Somerton. He married Margaret Davis (Davies). Before the Civil War he was a Surveyor. He built flour mills up and down the Muskegan River. Later he was living in Malta, Morgan Co., OH, near McConnellsville, the County seat. He returned late in life to Somerton, where he was raised. He left a will.
