John and Rachael had 3 daughters and two sons, Duff Hopper and Martin Luther Hopper. John was a tanner and went to live in Illinois where he died before 1886. His family moved to Kansas and in typical Hopper fashion "never wrote back to anyone". John was born March 27, 1802, and left a will when he died in Springfield, IL.
