I am researching for Connections of William Hornby, a coal miner, who married Jane Micklewright (?) of Stoke on Trent. It is believed that he was born in Wales around the Holywell area about 1875 , but following this up on local records the nearest reference is from Holywell North Wales. They were my grandparents & lived in Pendleton, Salford, where he worked in the local mine. It is believed that he used to cycle from Wales to Lancashire to find employment when mines reduced production, met & married Jane in the Stoke on Trent area on one of these occaisions. They had five children who survived, but one Amos was killed at Dunkirk in a Massacre after surrendering to German troops. There are several grandchildren in the Manchester, Lancashire area.
