Notes for King Duncan I King of Scotland:
Duncan, already ruler of Strathclyde since 1018, became king in 1034 on the death of his grandfather, Malcolm II. He had the mentality and ambitions that had been taught to him by his grandfather, but he didn't have the same head for strategy. He started more battles than he could possibly win. He frequently tried to fight on more than one front at a time. He picked a fight with his cousin, Thorfinn, Jarl of the Orkneys, where there had been no previous quarrel.
However, Duncan had a charming personality which endeared him to the people, although the nobels didn't like him. Finally, he was killed in battle by his cousin, Macbeth. Macbeth was elected king and ruled Scotland for 16 years until his own death at the hands of Malcolm III, Duncan's son. During Macbeth's reign, Scotland was mainly at peace.

440533807. Mistress Sybilla Corbet, born Abt. 1070; died Unknown. She was the daughter of 881067614. Sir Robert Corbet.

Notes for Henry I "Beauclerc" King of England:
Henry was the first of William the Conqueror's children to be born on English soil, but as fourth son, he had little hope of inheriting a crown. Robert, the first born, inherited Normandy, and William II, inherited England. Henry was left without a title, but he inherited a huge fortune in English sterling.
Robert and William entered into a pact that if either died without a male heir the other would inherit, eliminating Henry from the succession. Robert went off to Jerusalem on Crusade and Henry probably hoped for the worst, but in 1100 word came that Robert was on his way home, victorious and wealthy. (Perhaps it was more than a coincidence that on August 2, 1100, Henry was hunting in New Forest at the same time William was struck by an arrow and killed.) Henry rode directly from the New Forest to the Treasury and declared himself King. He was crowned in Westminster three days later.
When Robert landed in Portsmouth in July of 1101, he was without any advantage and an immediate treaty was arranged. Robert received an annual pension and Henry kept England. But, the conflict didn't end until a battle between Henry's and Robert's forces at Tinchebrai in 1106. Robert was captured and kept prisoner the rest of his life (28 years) and Henry gained Normandy.
Henry was involved in a long struggle with the Church, headed by Anselm, Archbishop of Canterberry, mostly over lay investiture. He wasn't known for his piousness in any case. (It was said his chaplain was chosen for the speed at which he could say Mass.)
He was of moderate height, thick set, black-haired and had a soft expression in his eyes--an expression that was often misleading for he could be ruthless. However, he was considered fair in his dealings and became known as the "lion of justice".
Not trusting the Norman barons, whose fathers had been granted English estates under the reign of the Conqueror, Henry set out to systematically relieve them of their English and Welsh lands. He also decided to concern himself with the traditional enemies of Normandy--France and Flanders. In 1119, Henry beat Louis VI of France in the Battle of Bremule.
Despite his 22 known illegitimate children, he only had two legitimate children, William and Matilda, that survived to adulthood. He had his son, William, marry the daughter of the Count of Anjou. However, in 1120, William died in a shipwreck. (It was said that King Henry never smiled again after the death of William.) The only legitimate heir of Henry's was his daughter, Matilda, who was first married to Emperor Henry V of Germany and then to Geoffrey of Anjou. Eager for the English crown, Geoffrey went to war against Henry. The two were still at war when Henry died, supposedly from eating too many eels. He ruled longer than his father or his brother, but he still remains one of the least known of the English kings.
