I am just beginning to research the Horton and Dodd family trees starting backwards from Henry McDowell Horton and Lucy Francis Dodd (Horton) who moved to Williams County, Texas between 1900 and 1910. They later moved to Johnston County and then to Castro County where he was a county commissioner in the 1930s. They are both buried in the Dimmit, Tx cemetary in Castro County Texas. Henry McDowell Horton was born in S. Carolina or Georgia on 6/14/1874 (died 8/15/1949) and Lucy Francis Dodd was born in Georgia or maybe Arkansas on 5/11/1869 (died 10/29/1947).
Henry McDowell had two brothers (John and Josh) who both lived in Johnson County, Tx and a sister, Molly, who married a J. Owens and lived in Arkansas, maybe near Newport.
Lucy Francis Dodd had a brother, Robert E. Dodd and a sister, Francis (Frannie)who married a man by the name of Kelly and lived near Wichjita Falls, Tx.
Henry McDowell and Lucy Francis Horton had four children, Albert born in 1900, Elizabeth (Ester) born in 9/25/1903, my father, Henry Howard, born 2/10/1910 in Grainger, TX and another daughter who died when she was very young. To the best of my knowledge no family records exist all being lost with the death of Albert Horton and his daughter.
I am looking for any information that will assist in tracking the history of the two families.
A latter search will be made of the Moore and Clayton families who lived around Clovis, New Mexico. I have access to a goodly amount of research (hard copy) on the Moore family.
