Notes for John W Johnson: 1910 census in Clay County, Al lists John W Johnson b Ohio age 45 married to Ida B b Alabama age 41 with children Minne 12, Dewey 11, William 8, John 7, Amanda 4 and Frank 3 months. We know that his wife was Eliza, not Ida and we also know that the age is correct for the birth year for Eliza so I think that the census enumerator mistakenly wrote Ida for Eliza. Otherwise everything fits. Interesting note is that next door to the John Johnson household is the John Ray family with wife Lilla and child Exa Ray. On the other side of this house is the Amzi Gay household with wife Ada Horn and children and Andrew Blake Horn is living with them. Andrew is Ada's brother and he later goes on to marry Exa Ray who is living next door.
Located in the Ashland, Al Library are some books of funeral records and his funeral record is listed in one of them on page 100. It lists his birthday as Dec 20 1860 and date of death as April 2 1949. It also lists his father as Samuel Johnson and his mother as Amanda Miller. It also states that he is buried in Springhill Cemetary along with his wife Eliza.
