Notes for Radulphus (Ralph) de Barton: All of the information about the Bartons/Stedmans/Steedman/Stidham/Steadham was provided by Robert Michael Steadham who has been researching the line for several years. His information is derived from Barton and Stedman also Steedman and Steadman families by Joseph Earle Steadman 1987. I have a copy of this book and indeed it does appear to be well researched. Joseph Steadman gives much credit for the research to Marguerite Couturier Steedman who did extensive reasearch into the family. I have not personally researched any of the Stedhams further back than John Steedman so I cannot attest to the validity of it but only present it here as it was presented to me. If true, then Radulphus de Barton is my 27th great grandfather. Of interest is the fact that the Barton name changed to Stedman and Steadham over time.
