Absolom Nixon was my 3rd great grandfather (ie, Great Great Great Grandfather). That is, if we prove he is really the father of James Edward Nixon as I suspect.

I am not absolutely 100% sure that Absolom was James Edward Nixon's father but there is compelling reasons to believe that he was in that they were geographically located in a similar areas but no Census records exist that proves it. Given that no other Nixons are located within a few states of Absolom also makes compelling reason to believe he is Jame's father.

The name Nixon means the following:

1. Northern English, Scottish, and northern Irish: patronymic from the Middle English personal name Nik(k)e, a short form of Nicholas.
2. French: variant of a contracted form of Nickesson, a pet form of Nick, from Nicolas.
