+++++++ HELP BOARD +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
HELP ITEMS - I thought it might be useful to start an "action board" on research items concerning our line of the Houstons. The idea is that any of you could submit a candidate item for research that someone else might have an answer for you or could get an answer fro you. The answer would then be shared with all through this web site. I have included below an item to "prime the pump"

1. 1/15/03, Jonathan Houstown -- Looking for birth, marriage, death or other records on Jonathan Houstown. I think he was born about 1705 in London England to Anthony Houston who was there as a "furrier". I also believe that Jonathan moved with his father and older brother to Kent or New Castle Counties, Delaware somewhere around 1715 after the death of Anthony's older brother William Houstown who willed Anthony his properties in New Castle County, Delaware

  • Jane Houstown b. 1705 London England (209 KB)
    This is an image from records of Christ Church, Southwark, London England for a christening of a Jane Houston born 16 October, 1705 and christened on 2 Non 1705. I believe the record reads Bap: Jane: D: of Anthony Houstown Vituler by Jane his wife born this 16: of October” The word “vituler” is apparently a corruption of the word “victtualer" an archaic term for a purveyor of foods or spirits, sometimes an innkeeper
