I am researching the following surnames and regions in the South: Syke and Hettie Houston lived in Lafayette County, Mississippi from 1870 to mid late 1890's. They had 24 children . They moved to Monroe county, Arkansas in the mid to late 1890's. One of their sons, John H. Houston (my grandfather) married Louisa Preston and lived in Clarendon, Arkansas. They had the following children, Maggie, Melvin, Hattie B, Louis, Alex, Willie Mae, and Booker (My father). Dick and Lucinda (Walker) Preston lived in Marshall county, Mississippi from 1867-1890 .They moved to Crittenden county, Arkansas in the mid to late 1890's. They had 12 children (including my grandmother-Louisa Preston who married John Houston). Samuel and Mariah McKnight lived in Sumpter county, Alabama from 1866 to around the 1880's. They had two daughters, Maria and Clarisa (k-a Classey). Classey married George Hotchkiss around 1875 and moved to Phillips county, Arkansas. They had 18 children. I am seeking information about George Hotchkiss, who was born in TN around 1848.. He had a brother name James or Jimmy, who lived around Nashville, TN in the early 1900's. William Thomas married Mattie Hotchkiss (daugther of George and Classey) in 1902 in Phillips county, Arkansas. They had 8 children. William was born about 1870 or 1872 in Tenn. His mother was name Amanda Thomas and he had a brother name James or Jinn. Any information would be appreciated. I am also willing to share the information that I have. |
