| I am researching Mathew M. McFarland the surname has also been known to be spelled McFarlin. Mathew M. McFarland was born August 29, 1803 in North Carolina, and he died March 21, 1875 near Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky. Mathew married Mary "Martha Molly" Dick, on August 01, 1825, in Simpson County, Kentucky. Mary Dick was born February 07, 1807, in Wilkes County, North Carolina, she died October 21, 1877, near Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky. Mary is the Daughter of Koonrod Dick and Charlotte Harrell. Mathew and Mary are buried in the Dick Cemetery, located in Simpson County, Kentucky. Mathew and Mary had 13 children and it should be noted that most of the children in later years spelled the surname McFarlin. Children of Mathew and Mary are; 1) James W. "Coon" McFarlin, born about 1826 in Simpson County, Kentucky, James married Rebecca W. "Becky" Frizell. They were married April 30, 1854 in Simpson County, Kentucky. 2) John Harrison McFarlin, born Nov. 30, 1828 in Simpson County, Kentucky, died Feb. 25, 1915 in Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky. John married Adeline Elizabeth "Addie" Odell on September 27, 1858, in Franklin, Simpson County, Kentucky. She was born Dec. 31, 1838 in Simpson County, Kentucky and died Jan. 19, 1921 In Simpson County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Richard Odell and Mary Francis Dick. Both John and Adeline are buried in the Bethel Grove Cemetery, Simpson County, Kentucky. 3) William Garland "Doc" McFarlin, born September 1832, in Simpson County, Kentucky, he died before 1900 in Texas, William married Elizabeth Ellen Lowe and Rebecca Boyd. 4) Amos Washington McFarlin, born Jan. 06, 1833 in Simpson County, Kentucky, died Dec. 10, 1910 in Ellis County, Texas. Amos married Lavina Lowe in 1862 in Simpson County, Kentucky. She was born Jan. 06, 1843 in Missouri, and died July 24, 1901 in Ellis County, Texas. Both Amos and Lavina are buried in the Maloney Cemetery in Avalon, Ellis County, Texas. 5) Jesse A. "Jess" McFarlin, born 1834 Simpson County, Kentucky, died bet. 1900-1910 in Neocho, Cherokee County, Kansas. Jesse married Louisa J. Odell. 6) Luke McFarlin, born 1836 Simpson or Logan County, Kentucky. 7) Elizabeth E. McFarland, born June 4, 1838 Simpson or Logan County, Kentucky, died September 10, 1854. Burial Dick Family Cemetery, Simpson County, Kentucky. 8) Charlotte Malvena McFarland, born 1839 Simpson or Logan County, Kentucky. 9) Conrad Nelson McFarlin, born 1842, Simpson or Logan County, Kentucky. Died 1914 Vanita, Craig County, Oklahoma. Conrad married (1) Elnora J. (2) Abigal Swim. (Between the two marriage's Conrad had at least 10 children). 10) Henry C. "Buck" McFarland, born 1844 Simpson or Logan County, Kentucky, died before 1895 in Texas. Married Josephine Francis Newmann. 11) Mary Francis McFarland, born 1846 in Simpson or Logan County, Kentucky, died in Missouri. She married Robert Frizell. 12) Peter McFarland, 1848 Logan County, Kentucky. 13) Mathew McFarland, born 1853 Logan County, Kentucky, died 1873 Simpson County, Kentucky. Mathew married Mary Jane Addison.
